Today we did a complete air duct cleaning of our home. We used Stanley Steemer’s services.

Two people came in the early morning. They came inside the house and located all the vents and intakes. Then they connected their vacuum system to our air handler and started to evacuate the air duct system. The used their vehicle’s engine power to run the vacuum system. While this evacuation was on going the personnel went around the house removed all vents and used a fan like device start cleaning the interior of the vents. Another person the vent adjusting grills outside the house and cleaned them with special chemicals.

The whole day it has been raining on and off. There were several heavy rainfall bouts. One around 2 PM and couple of them between 3 and 5 PM. On my way home I found so much water at the intersection of North Duval Street and West Tennessee Street (Mahan Drive; US 90) that the cars had to avoid the right most lane. Here is a photo of the water flow at the intersection of W Tennessee Street and N Duval Street

ACT Thank You Party

Sunday, November 11, 2012

CGE Globe, 3-7 PM

This afternoon we had the “Thank You” party for all ACT volunteers, performers, members, and vendors and all their families. This was one simple way of saying thanks to countless hours all of them have spent in making Experience Asia a success.

We had food from Indian, Japanese, Chinese, and Filipino restaurants make some food for the guests. Once again volunteers set-up the table for buffett style lunch/dinner. We had probably about 60-70 people at the party. We had anticipated a larger crowd but due to the long three-day weekend the attendance was low. But we were happy many student volunteers, members, and several vendors were present.

Lincoln Leon Football Game

Lincoln Leon Football Game

Gene Cox Stadium

441 Paul Russell Road, Tallahassee, FL 32301

In the evening after Bhanu came from work, we all three headed to Gene Cox Stadium at the North Florida Fairgrounds to attend the Lincoln and Leon high schools season football game. Our friends at the Tally TKD had informed us about the football game lastnight after VTS’s black belt award ceremony and we arrived at the stadium little past 7 PM. We paid the ticket amount of $6/person. We met our friends and took our seats on the Lincoln side of the stadium around 35 yard line.

Due to some power problems the stadium lights didn’t come on until around 7:30 PM (after the Lincoln Band started to play) and the game went well. The quarters were 12 minutes long and by the end of the second quarter the Lincoln Trojans had scored impressive five touchdowns and extra points to a score of 35 to the Leon score of 3.

We then watched the Leon high school band play. They have been invited to play in London 2013. With full lights on the Leon band perfromed many nice routines. The Leon football game came from the half and scored a touchdown and made Lincoln fumble the ball once.

Since Bhanu had work early and VTS and I had to attend Saturday morning physics we all left with score of 35-10 in the middle of thrid quarter. In all it was a fun.

Prepare site for EAF 2012

Friday, October 05, 2012

Downtown Tallahassee, FL

A bunch of volunteers took some time off (I took half-day off) and came to Chain of Parks in Downtown Tallahassee. We had reserved Bloxham and Lewis parks for our eighth annual Experience Asia Festival 2012. So we started the site preparation for tomorrow’s event.

The first thing we did was to measure the site and started to mark areas for foods, arts and crafts vendors on the Lewis Park. Then we measured and marked the area for ACT members and information booths on the Bloxham parks. One set of volunteers measured and other set of volunteers tied brightly colored threads to mark the stall and open space between them. Another set of volunteers went around affixing the numbers that corresponded to the vendors and members.

Around 7 PM we were done and we all went home.
