The Florida Tax Watch which bestows the award describes it in the following way:
The Prudential Productivity Awards are made possible through the generosity of Prudential, as Anchor Sponsor, and the vision of the late J.E. Davis and A.D. Davis, co-founders of Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. and co-founders of Florida TaxWatch. Since 1989, the Awards program has publicly recognized and rewarded state employees and work units whose work significantly and measurably increases productivity and promotes innovation to improve the delivery of state services and save money for Florida taxpayers and businesses. Over the 28-year program, more than 16,000 nominations have been received, and awards have been given to state employees for saving or maximizing state dollars to the tune of more than $9.2 billion.

Strength Training at FSU Leach

FSU Leach Gymnasium

Wednesday, 12, 2016

For several week now, I have been slowly adding strength and weight (mostly strength) training to my daily gymnasium routines. Since I have only limited break time, I mix the cardio work outs like jogging, rowing, cycling, elliptical, stair master, etc with other strength training.

My colleague had introduced me to the strength training and slowly I am adding to the variety of machines, I use to do the training. This week I added couple of more machines to my regular routine.

Since so far most of the machines had upper body work out, I added two for the lower body work out. The first one is Cybex Seated Leg Curl

The next one for the leg work out is the Cybex leg extension

Each each year 200 junior and senior student leaders invited to join the elite organization.

We attended the event this evening held at FSU Oglesby Union Ballroom. The event started at 5 PM and the students recited a pledge and received their pin and certificate from Dr Mary Coburn, Vice President of FSU Students Affairs. After the ceremony all the inductees received their certificate and information about being a member of the organization.

Possible relief on Weems Road

Possible traffic relief for Weems Road

Wed, Jun 10, 2015

Two days ago, I saw in Tallahassee Democrat, our local newspaper, a public notice from Florida Department of Transportation FDOT (http://www.dot.state.fl.us/) about resurfacing of the portion of the Capital Circle Southeast closer to where we live.

Currently the FDOT resurfacing the main artery to the city, Mahan Drive (US 90) from Capital Circle to Magnolia Drive. However, the public notice mentioned below would resurface area close tothe current resurfacing but would also add right turn lane on Capital Circle SE on the north bound lanes. The latter part is very important.

This will probably have direct impact for our neighborhood where it has become increasingly difficult to get in or out of our own neighborhood. This is true during the morning and especially during evening rush hour as people driving north bound in Capital Circle SE  take a short cut at Easterwood Drive and proceed to Weems Road to get Eastern Tallahassee where many of them live. This makes Weems Road, which is undivided single lane road, congested. To get in and out of our neighborhood occasionally it takes about a minute not because so many people live in our neighborhood but so many others who don’t live are driving on the only road we have access to the public road ways.

Travel to Arlington, VA

Sunday-Monday, April 19-20, 2015

CAM00578

I travelled to Arlington, Virginia on a business trip. I left home on Sunday via a Delta flight via Atlanta and arrived at the Reagan airport on the afternoon. Then I took the WMTA metro Blue and Silver lines to get Arlington, VA. I stayed overnight at an area hotel.

SBCR1

The next day I had meetings from morning 8 AM to afternoon 3 PM. Then I picked up my luggage (held at the hotel) and took the subway back to Reagan. I was able to catch an earlier flight (after paying a fee) and avoid the approaching thunderstorms. I was home by night.
