Asian Coalition of Tallahassee
Participant | Volunteer | Sponsor Appreciation Dinner
Lucy Ho’s Restaurant
Sunday, November 16, 2008, 5-8 PM
The Asian Coalition of Tallahassee (ACT) invited all the performers, coordinators, sponsors, and volunteers of the Experience Asia Festival 2008 for an appreciation dinner at Lucy Ho’s restaurant in Tallahassee, Florida.
Over 100 people from all the member organizations came for the dinner. It was a cold night with temperatures in the low forties. There was plenty of food prepared by the restaurant as well as potluck-style food brought by the members themselves. Due to the cold weather and small area people from various organizations mingled together freely exchanging conversation and ideas.
Several members of the India Association were present at the dinner including our own family. We took some rice pilaf to share. The Mayor and First Lady of Tallahassee as well as the newly elected FL House District 9 Representative was present. Everyone had a good time.

Vote 2008 | Presidential Election 2008
November 4, 2008 by Soma.
Presidential Election 2008
Polls are open from 7 AM to 7 PM
Tallahassee, Florida, USA
Today is the Election day in the United States of America and people first vote and then the electoral college votes (based on the outcome of the people’s vote) to elect the President, the winner needs to have 270 Electoral College Votes to win the election (Popular vote is the total of people’s vote and at times it even a winning popular vote does not guarantee winning the election, eg. 2000 Presidential Election, where Al Gore won the popular vote but lost the Presidency). The polls are open in Tallahassee (in Florida) from 7 AM to 7 PM. The early voting began in Leon County two weeks ago and ended last Sunday. Half way through the early voting the polling hours were extended from 8 hours daily to 12 hours daily.
To avoid the expected huge rush we cast our ballots almost 10 days ago. As of Sunday night approximately 38% of Florida’s eligible voters have cast their ballots. Now it is only 12 or more hours to find out who the winner will be in the historic election.
